- In response to the request for grilled dishes, this my family's (and
- several other families that want to come and visit) favorite.
-
- Flank Steak:
-
- Ingredients
-
- 1. One flank steak (do not use London broil)
- 2. 1 cup oil
- 3. 1 cup dark soy sauce
- 4. 1 Tbls crushed garlic
-
- Mix oil, soy and garlic in flat sealable container, (we often use freezer
- bags. Place steak in container and marinate for 24 hours, turning once
- and shaking whenever you think of it.
-
- Grill by first searing each side, then lowering heat (or raising grill)
- and cooking each side slowly. After searing pour some of the marinate on
- each side, making sure to cook any side that the marinate is poured on
- (it may contain bacteria, so you do not want to pour used marinate on a
- side that will not face flame before serving.
- Total cooking time 15-20 minutes.
- Serve by cutting diagonally against the grain (an electric carving knife
- is wonderful here.) I cut on a small board over the serving platter so
- that any juices can drain on the platter or be poured over the slices.
-
- This is a wonderful dish, and is equally good on a sandwich the next day!
